Travelling With Unaccompanied Minor

A child traveling alone should have proper safety and security so that he or she can reach the desired destination positively and surely. This is why children between the ages of 5 to 14 years should be booked under unaccompanied minor service. To make sure that your child is well equipped to travel alone and unaccompanied, you need to fill out the unaccompanied minor form as well as all other necessary Immigration and Customs documents meant for the specific day of departure. Such forms should be there with your child when he or she is embarking on the journey.

There are also a number of documents that the guardians and parents also need to provide during the check-in process. These include the following.

  • Passport or the birth certificate as the proof of a child’s age
  • A government-issued photo ID of the adult along with details regarding the current address
  • Phone number of the adult so that the airport authorities can reach out to him/her whenever necessary
  • The phone number, name and address details of the adult individual who will be meeting the child once he/she reaches the destination

After the child has been checked in, a security pass will be provided to the adult by the ticket agent from airport ticket counter. This security pass can be used for taking the child to the flight gate.

Following these guidelines can help to ensure security and well being of the unaccompanied minor when he she is traveling by flight in USA.
